INTERLOCKING RETAINING WALL BLOCK UK for GARDEN LANDSCAPING & SOIL EROSION CONTROL

Check your site, noting the slope and required shape of your TERRAFORCE wall.
Measure the length and the vertical height to obtain the surface area and the number of blocks required. There are 15 blocks / square metre.

Garden wall building guide - Builders example

Step 1
Prepare a level foundation of gravel or concrete as directed by site conditions. Compacted gravel foundations are usually sufficient
for structures not higher than one (1) metre. On sloping sites the foundations may be stepped by block height at intervals to suit the slope

 

Step 2
Place first row of blocks to the required alignment and ensure that units are level in all directions and without gaps between blocks. A small amount of mortar will assist with accurate levelling on a concrete foundation.
Step 3
Install a drainage pipe with an outlet at the lowest end and free draining backfill as specified behind the first row of blocks. A length of flexible conduit pipe will assist in setting out smooth curves as shown.
Step 4
Fill blocks with good quality soil or soil compost mix and tamp lightly.
Step 5
Continue construction, row by row, while backfilling and compacting free draining material as each row is completed with topsoil infill.
Step 6
Where necessary, a geofabric or membrane may be used between layers of blocks to further enhance the stability of the retaining wall.
Garden wall - Single row

Step 1
Mark out the shape of your garden wall using a hose pipe, or rope, and dig the edges around 100 mm ( 4″ ) deep.

Step 2
Dig out the soil for 100 mm ( 4″ ) to make a level base for your wall.
Step 3
Lay the first row of your interlocking wall blocks. Either the flat “rock face”, round smooth face, or a combination of both, can be facing outwards. Their is no need for mortar for jointing the wall blocks.
Step 4
The first row of your wall is now finished and is ready for planting in the hollow centre of the blocks
Step 5
Additional rows of blocks can be laid to provide a terraced effect
Step 6
Your TERRAFORCE interlocking block garden wall is now finished and ready for planting. There is no cleaning to be done as there has been no need for concrete foundations or mortar for jointing.
Garden wall - Terraced

Step 1

Once the site has been prepared we can install the first row of blocks.

Step 2
Additional rows of blocks can now be laid and staggered back to display the basic concept of a sloping retaining wall. The cavities of the blocks can be backfilled as the rows are installed.

Step 3

The installer can use to his advantage the different concepts of flat
and round surfaces of the blocks to provide differing interest to the retaining walls.
Step 4
The bordercan now have the first planting which will develop over time to soften the lines of the blocks
